The Tonga Statistics Department’s Secondary School Outreach Programme has successfully continued its implementation in ‘Eua, as part of its nationwide effort to engage students with official statistics.

The outreach in ‘Eua was conducted over two days, with visits to the following secondary schools:

  • ‘Eua High School on 22 April 2026
  • Hofangahau College on 23 April 2026

During these visits, the outreach team delivered informative presentations and facilitated interactive Question and Answer sessions with senior secondary students. The sessions focused on increasing students’ understanding of official statistics, how such data are produced, and their practical use in school assignments, research, and everyday decision-making.

This initiative responds to the growing demand from students for access to reliable and quality statistical information. It also aims to strengthen statistical literacy among young people and encourage the effective use of official data in academic work.

In addition, the outreach programme served as an important platform to raise awareness of the upcoming Tonga Census 2026, highlighting its significance and encouraging community participation.
