As part of the effort of the department to improve quality information for decision-making, the department is conducting a Business Register Census to update the stock of formally registered businesses in Tonga and the business demographics and economic activity. This information will be used as baseline for analysis of economic activity for Tonga. The training of field staff began on Monday the 24th and will continue until the 28th of October. The enumeration period will begin on the 31st of October until the 2nd of December. The data collection will cover all formally registered businesses in Tongatapu, Vava’u, Ha’apai and ‘Eua main islands. The department acknowledges the cooperation from Ministry of Trade and Economic Development – Business Registry Division.
