On Tuesday 18th of February, the department held a meeting with Ministry of Education and Training’s (MET) Education Management Information Systems (EMIS) unit.
This was to discuss a collaborative agenda on how to tackle data and information needs for education in Tonga. Data challenges were identified by both parties with the meeting concluding with certain recommendations on actions to be carried out to mitigate these issues.
This meeting is part of an initiative from the department to move forward with establishing and coordinating a national statistical system (NSS) in which statistical organizations and units within Tonga work together to provide official statistics.
