The Survey Team of Tonga Statistics Department releases the MICS 2019 Preliminary Results on the 19th of June 2020.

MICS (Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey) is the largest source of statistically sound and internationally comparable data on women and children worldwide. MICS is at its 6 Rounds now. Tonga MICS 2019 is the first ever MICS survey conducted in Tonga and the 2nd country in the Pacific Region to held MICS6, Kiribati being the first in 2018.

Two documents were released on this date were:
1.    A Fact Sheet – Tonga MICS 2019 Preliminary Results.
2.    A COVID Report – Tonga MICS 2019 COVID 19 and Children.

TSD was the implementing Agency in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Internal Affairs (Women and Gender Division), Ministry of Education (Early Childhood Division & EMIS), NGOs such as Women and Children Crisis Center (WCCC), Ma’a Fafine mo e famili, TNCWC with technical support from UNICEF, UNFPA and Pacific Community (SPC).
Other stakeholders who participated at the event were Ministry of Trade and Economic Development. Prime Minister Office (Planning Division), Ministry of Trade and Economic Development, MEIDECC (NEMO), Naunau ‘o e ‘Alamaite Tonga Association (NATA), Tonga Family Health Association (TFHA) and Tonga Health Promotion Foundation (THPF).
