Release of the first ever strategy for Tonga’s National Statistical System on the 6th November, 2018

Poverty

Tonga will be the very first country in the pacific to have poverty statistics and the report of accessing its progress towards the eradication of poverty in the kingdom will be out on the 2018 Tonga Statistics Day the 6th November, 2018

MICs Survey Release of Preliminary Results

The Survey Team of Tonga Statistics Department releases the MICS 2019 Preliminary Results on the 19th of June 2020.

Sustainable Development Goal

The department’s trying to improve the statistical system and providing trainings to enable statisticians to generate indicators accommodating the SDGs.

This year we’ve managed to get a sneak peak of the Food Consumption pattern in Tonga based on the 2016/16 Household Income and Expenditure Survey.

Consumer Price

The Consumer Price Index Team conduct their weekly survey in the markets to prepare their Monthly Consumer Price Index Report for May 2020.

HIES 2020/21 happening now.

The Household Income and Expenditure Survey (HIES) 2020-21 began in December 2020 is currently running now.

2019-2020 Annual Report for Balance of Payments released

Balance of Payments statements in this publication record economic transactions between Tonga and the rest of the world. They show the value of goods, services, income, transfers and changes in Tonga’s claims on the liabilities with foreigners.

     

Two reports were launched on World Statistics Day.

Tonga Health is arranging  a sport program to be held every friday evening in which all the ministries are participating in it. Tonga Statistic Department also participate with their own team in the sport

iNZight Presentation

A presentation about the software iNZight was carried out at the Tonga Health conference room on the 8th of OCtober 2019. It was held in 2 days and the participants were from different department of the Government of Tonga together with the Statistic's staff.

Survey Training

Survey Training

A MICs Survey training were held for 5 weeks in which it starts on the 23rd of September and ends on the 25th of October. The participants then continue on working in the fields from the 28th of October and to be done by the 20th of December.
