For the past 4 years, the department has been celebrating the Tonga Statistics Day, marked with the launching of important policy impacting reports and other valuable statistical work.

This year, on October 20th, the department, together with many national statistics offices around the globe, will celebrate World Statistics Day

This is the third time World Statistics Day is celebrated globally; and the theme for this auspicious event, and for the following five years is:

Connecting the world with data we can trust

The theme signifies the importance of trust, authoritative data, innovation and the public good in national statistical systems.

On this upcoming Statistics Day, the department is advocating the importance of statistics by reaching out to the schools and not only speaking on what it does but also having Essays and Poem Competitions.

The Tonga Statistics Department considers Statistics Day an event that brings the whole national statistical system together, to celebrate and appreciate the importance of having data we can trust.

A presentation on the progress of our Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and our Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICs) will also presented in our Statistics Day.
